This workshop will explore:
- The importance of protecting your own health, safety and welfare in a locum role
- The practical and cultural challenges of working safely across different workplaces
- Individual and collective strategies to manage risk, build confidence, and improve working conditions.
The session will encourage participants to reflect on their own experiences while developing practical tools and shared approaches to safer working.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Explain the importance of maintaining personal health, safety and wellbeing in the context of locum pharmacy practice
- Identify common risks and challenges associated with locum working, including workload pressures, unfamiliar environments, and professional isolation
- Apply practical strategies to manage risk and support safe decision-making in day-to-day practice
- Recognise the role of collective approaches (including peer support and trade union engagement) in improving working conditions and outcomes
- Reflect on their own working practices and identify actions to support safer and more sustainable working.
