VACCINATIONS: All vaccinations delivered by suitably trained pharmacists have always been covered by indemnity insurance as part of the standard PDA membership apart from Covid-19. For new membership renewals after January 1st, 2026, Covid-19 vaccinations are now also automatically covered.

LGBT+ Network

This is the PDA LGBT+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) Pharmacists' Network.

The network was launched by the PDA in April 2020 as part of their work to meet the demands of their growing membership and advance their work on equality.

    June is Pride month which aims to raise awareness on how damaging homophobia can be as well as being more understanding of those in the LGBT+ community. The PDA LGBT+ Network works to enable all pharmacists in the LGBT+ community to realise their full potential and raise their profile by being educationally, socially and politically active.

Scott also discusses the benefits of the Just Like Us charity that works to empower the young LGBT+ community.  

  • Being ‘out’ as part of the LGBT+ community at work

    Research carried out by Stonewall in 2018 discovered that when at work, becoming 'out' and open about your sexuality if you are part of the LGBT+ community was still a problem. Over 35% of LGBT+ workers admitted hiding their identity at work due to fear of discrimination, with this rising to 42% for LGBT+ BAME colleagues and 51% for transgender staff.
