PDA Safer Pharmacies Survey 2019 suggests safety may be improving, but concerns remain

The PDA has released the headline results of their annual safer pharmacies survey, in which pharmacists disclose how often the basic safety commitments detailed in the Safer Pharmacies Charter have been met in their direct experience of practice. Top level results show a small improvement in 2019 compared to the previous year, but a long way still to go.

PDA Union/Boots agree 7.6% pay increase to newly qualified pharmacists rate. Current cohort to receive 11.8% total increase by August.

Wales police praised for taking action on safety for pharmacy staff and patients

The PDA is praising the action of police in Wales who are visiting pharmacies to discuss safety and support the association’s campaign to end violence in pharmacies and keep pharmacists safe from harm in their workplaces.

Boots pharmacists respond to PDA Union pay survey

Pharmacists reminded of importance of GDPR

PDA members are reminded of the importance of complying with data protection regulations, after a pharmacy was fined £275,000 in the first use of fining powers under the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).

Pharmacists apprenticeship development has been “paused”

The PDA and GHP wrote to Skills for Health and issued a joint statement on 25th November 2019 outlining the concerns of pharmacists about the apprenticeship proposals. Skills for Health, today announced, on behalf of the employer group that is seeking to develop a pharmacist apprenticeship, that the development of their proposal is going to be "paused".
